Concrete Contractor in Greenacres, FL - Driveways and Patios Built From the Ground Up

Optimum Wellington Concrete is a concrete contractor based in Wellington, and we pour driveways, patios, pool decks, steps and slabs for homes and properties in Greenacres, FL. We plan the ground under each slab before any concrete goes in.

Stamped concrete walkway with an irregular stone pattern leads to broad tan concrete steps at a brick house, flanked by stone lion statues.

Greenacres is its own city. We work to its rules.

Greenacres runs its own city government with its own Code of Ordinances, so a concrete job here follows the city's rules, not the ones next door.

We come over from Wellington for driveways, patios, pool decks and steps, and for bigger slab and foundation work, the same work we do in Westgate and Palm Springs.

What we pour in Greenacres. From steps to foundations.

  • Concrete driveway building

A new driveway on a dug-out, packed base, worth it when the old one has sunk, cracked through or holds water.

  • Concrete patio construction

If water sits on your back patio after rain, we pour a new one that falls away from the house.

  • Stamped concrete services

Stamped concrete gives a patio or walk the look of stone or brick, pressed into the surface while it's still soft.

  • Concrete sidewalk building

Walks from the driveway to the door or around the side yard, poured flat so nobody trips on a lifted edge.

  • Garage floor concrete

When a garage floor is chipping, dusty or cracked across, we break it out and pour a new slab.

  • Decorative concrete

Color, scored borders and special finishes for driveways, patios and walks, when you want more than plain gray concrete.

  • Concrete retaining walls

Where a yard steps down or soil keeps washing onto a slab, a poured wall holds the ground in place.

  • Concrete floor installation

Interior concrete floors for additions, workshops and outbuildings, poured level and finished smooth enough for what goes on top.

  • Concrete pool decks

A deck around the pool with a textured top for bare feet, sloped so splash and rain run off instead of sitting.

  • Concrete steps construction

Front or back steps with even risers, worth replacing when old ones have cracked, settled or pulled away from the house.

  • Slab foundation building

The slab a house, addition or garage sits on, with steel set inside so it holds together as one piece.

  • Foundation installation

For new building work, we lay out, dig and pour the foundation that carries the walls and everything above them.

  • Concrete parking lot building

Parking areas for businesses and multi-unit properties, built thicker where trucks turn and graded so water leaves the lot.

  • Concrete footings

Footings are the buried concrete under a wall, column or porch, sized to spread the weight before anything goes on top.

  • Foundation raising

If a slab or foundation has sunk and doors stick or floors slope, we look at lifting it back up.

  • Concrete cutting

Clean saw cuts through slabs and walls, for a new door, a plumbing trench or taking out a damaged section.

Permits in Greenacres come first. Then we plan the pour.

In Greenacres, the city's Building Division issues permits. Before you hire anyone, check that they hold a state contractor license, and if they're based in Greenacres, ask for their city Business Tax Receipt, which the city requires of every business location inside city limits, even one with a county receipt.

If your job needs a permit, we pull it as your licensed contractor and keep you posted, as we do in Royal Palm Beach. The permit and the days the slab needs to cure set the schedule, while size, old concrete coming out, base work and finish set the price, and I put what's included in writing.

Bad concrete is hard to undo. Greenacres jobs start underneath.

When a base is only raked level instead of dug out and packed, the slab settles with the dirt and cracks where nobody chose. A slab that falls toward the house sends rain at your walls, and a pour in midday heat can leave a weak, dusty top later.

The base is the part you can't see on day one, and it's the first thing people want to cut. I'd rather spend your money there, so we dig out and pack the subgrade, the ground the slab sits on, check where the water runs and cut control joints, the grooves that tell a crack where to run.

We work beyond Greenacres. Ask about your city too.

We're based in Wellington and also work in West Palm Beach and Boynton Beach, along with the cities listed below. If yours isn't here, call (561) 268-0415 and ask.

Questions come up before a pour. Here are straight answers.

Read the answers below first. If your question isn't covered, call us, because we answer our own phone and don't mind going over it twice.

How do I apply for a building permit in Greenacres?

You apply through the city's online MGO system, since the city no longer takes permit applications by email. When we're your contractor, we file it for you and keep you posted, and if you'd like to ask the city something first, its permits line is 561-642-2052.

Can I act as my own contractor for a concrete job in Greenacres?

Yes, if you own a one-family or two-family home and live in it, you can act as your own contractor, with restrictions. You fill out the city's Owner-Builder Affidavit and Disclosure Statement, which spells out those restrictions, have it notarized and turn it in with the permit application.

Will a new concrete driveway in Greenacres crack like my old one?

It shouldn't sink and split the way a slab on a raked base does, but most concrete gets some fine cracks in time, so I won't promise none. On a new driveway, we pack the base, cut the joints early so cracks follow lines we chose, and set rebar, steel bars inside the slab, where the job calls for it.

How long before I can drive on a new concrete driveway?

You wait until the slab has cured, the days fresh concrete needs to harden before it takes weight, and a car waits longer than feet do. I'll give you both days for your slab when I quote it, since they turn on the mix and the weather that week.

Does a concrete contractor in Florida need to be insured?

Certified building contractors in Florida attest to public liability and property damage insurance when they apply, and must get workers' comp or an exemption soon after they're licensed. Those licenses come from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation after a state exam. We're licensed and fully insured, so ask us for proof.

Is your slab sinking or cracked? Ask us to come look.

Our phone is answered seven days a week, so tell us what's there now and what you want, and I'll set a time to come look.
