Concrete floor installation in Wellington FL - a level floor that holds up to wear

Cracked, dusty or uneven floor, or a new space with dirt underfoot? We pour a level concrete floor timed right from finish to cure.

Fresh gray concrete driveway with straight control joints extends to a white house with dark garage doors.

What concrete floor installation covers. And why timing matters most.

Concrete floor installation in Wellington means we build the forms, set the steel, then place and finish the concrete. The job can include a stain or coating on top. The goal is a floor that holds up to wear and drains the way it should, and we do the same work outside on concrete pool decks and concrete steps.

Most floors that go wrong go wrong on timing. Finishing, cutting joints and curing each have to happen at the right moment, and when they don't you get cracks, a dusty top, flaking or high and low spots. So I plan those steps ahead and show you where the control joints, the cuts that give the slab a planned place to crack, will go before we pour.

The price moves with the floor's size, how much digging and packing the ground needs, the steel and the finish you pick. The schedule turns on the weather on pour day and how long the slab cures before flooring goes on, and your written estimate spells out what's included.

Time for a new concrete floor? Here's what tells you.

  • A dusty, flaking top

A floor that sheds powder or flakes at the surface was usually finished at the wrong time or dried too fast. It keeps wearing, and coatings and flooring have a hard time sticking to it.

  • Cracks and uneven spots

Cracks running every which way, or low spots where water sits, usually point to a base that settled or joints that were skipped. The longer it goes, the more the slab moves and the more you end up patching.

  • Flooring that won't lie flat

Tile that cracks or planks that lift at the seams often sit on curled slab edges or high spots. Laying new flooring over the same slab usually brings the same trouble right back.

How a concrete floor job goes. From first look to cleanup.

When you call, I come out myself to see the space, ask what the floor needs to handle and answer your questions. You then get a written estimate that spells out what's included, and I'll mark where the joints go so you know before anything is poured.

Our crew digs out and packs the subgrade, the ground the slab sits on, because a base that's only raked level settles and takes the floor with it. Then we build the forms, set the steel and pour, with me on site leading the crew.

Once the floor is finished and the joints are cut, the slab cures, a slow stretch of hardening where it can't be allowed to dry out too fast. Before we leave, I walk the floor with you, go over when flooring can go down and how to care for it, and we clean up the site.

Concrete floor questions. Answered in plain words.

Here are straight answers about new concrete floors. If yours isn't covered, call (561) 268-0415 and I'll walk you through it.

How much does a concrete floor cost in Wellington, FL?

A concrete slab in the West Palm Beach area usually costs about $6 to $12 per square foot, and that's the going rate for the slab, not a quote from us. Where yours lands depends on size, base work, steel and finish. I'll put your number and what's included in a written estimate after I see the space.

Will my new concrete floor crack like the old one did?

Probably a few hairline cracks, because an industry floor guide says some random cracking should be expected even with joints spaced right. The same guide says steel won't stop cracks, but sized and placed properly it should keep them tight. If you want a bare or stained finish, plan on seeing a few.

How soon can I put tile or wood flooring over new concrete?

Not right away, because slab edges can curl at the joints as new concrete dries unevenly, and an industry floor guide says that can cause trouble with some coverings in the months after the pour. The guide also says a vapor retarder, a layer that slows moisture, protects coverings best placed directly against the slab. I'll talk through the timing before we pour.

Does hot weather in Wellington affect a concrete floor pour?

Yes, because heat pulls water out of fresh concrete fast, which can leave a weak, dusty top. A hot-weather concreting guide suggests pouring at better times of day or night, protecting the slab from drying out while it cures, and not adding water on site, since that lowers strength. We plan the pour time with you ahead.
